Renowned competitive body builder and Sports Nutritionist Phil Graham (BSc, CSSN) has established himself as one of UK’s leading fitness educators and coaches. He has helped coach and inspire a diverse range of clientele ranging from personal trainers, everyday members of the public right through to professional athletes across a wide variety of sports.

Phil educates 1000’s of personal trainers each year through his seminars, workshops and attendance at some of the world’s largest health and fitness exhibitions. Darryn Willoughby

Ph.D., FACSM, FISSN, FACN, FASEP

Dr. Willoughby holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physical Education from Tarleton State University and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology with sub-emphases in Nutritional Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Texas A&M University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), International Society of Sport Nutrition (ISSN), American College of Nutrition (ACN), and American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP). He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and a Certified Sports Nutritionist through the ISSN. He is also a Past-President of the ISSN.

Dr. Willoughby is a Professor of Exercise and Nutritional Biochemistry and Molecular Physiology at Baylor University in Waco, TX where he teaches graduate level, nutritional biochemistry, exercise physiology, exercise biochemistry, muscle physiology, and exercise endocrinology classes. He is also an active researcher and director of the Exercise and Biochemical Nutrition Laboratory where his primary research focus is on the skeletal muscle molecular and signaling mechanisms regulating the effectiveness and efficacy of nutritional supplements and nutritional intervention [aka. nutrigenomics (nutrient-gene interactions). He also holds secondary faculty appointments as a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Science and Department of Biology at Baylor University, and Department of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Central Florida.

Dr. Willoughby has over 100 publications in scientific peer-reviewed research journals such as Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, International Journal of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism, Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism, Nutrition Research, and the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research. He has also authored and co-authored several book chapters on issues related to exercise and sports nutrition. He also has over 100 research-related presentations. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Nutrition and Food Engineering and the International Journal of Kinesiology and Sport Science. He is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Sports Science and Medicine and the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.

Dr. Willoughby is internationally renowned for being an active scientific contributor to the field of resistance training and exercise/sports nutrition. In addition to being highly-sought for national and international speaking engagements relative to resistance training and sports nutrition, Dr. Willoughby has previously contributed to Muscle and Fitness, Flex, The Sports Nutrition Insider, Men’s Health, and has been featured on podcasts and radio programs such as the Performance Nutrition Show. He has served as a nutrition and supplementation consultant for a number of major nutrition/sport supplement companies. He has previously worked as a collegiate strength and condition coach and presently serves as a resistance training and conditioning consultant for high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. In addition, he also consults with amateur and professional bodybuilders relative to their training and nutritional program.

Personally, Dr. Willoughby played college football, semi-pro football, semi-pro baseball. He is currently a professional bodybuilder in the Global Bodybuilding Organization (GBO) and Director of Judging for the GBO.

Darren Candow

Dr. Darren Candow, PhD, CSEP-CEP, is Professor and Associate Dean-Graduate Studies and Research in the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies. Dr. Candow supervises the Aging Muscle and Bone Health Laboratory, and serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Aging and Physical Activity, Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, and Biogerontology. Dr. Candow’s research program involves the development of effective resistance training and nutritional intervention strategies for improving properties of muscle and bone health. Dr. Candow’s research is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation (SHRF), and the Nutricia Research Foundation.

Jose Antonio

Jose Antonio, Ph.D. FISSN FNSCA CSCS is the CEO and co-founder of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (www.theissn.org). He gives an occasional talk, writes a bit, and can read your mind (but only after consuming copious quantities of coffee). Dr. Antonio is an Assistant Professor of Exercise and Sports Science at Nova Southeastern University in beautiful South Florida and an avid paddler.

Corey A Peacock

Dr. Corey Peacock is currently serving as the Head Performance Coach and Sports Scientist at Peacock Performance Inc. In this role, he is responsible for providing strength & conditioning, physiological analysis, and injury prevention methodologies for some of the UFC’s ‘Elite’ Mixed Martial Arts Fighters. He did so previously with MMA’s The Blackzilians fight team. Dr. Peacock has worked with top combat fighters including Anthony Johnson, Chris Algieri, Rashad Evans, Michael Johnson, Kamaru Usman, and Vitor Belfort to name a few. Prior to MMA, Dr. Peacock spent his time as a member of the strength and conditioning staff at The University of Miami, where he focused his application in Football. As a former collegiate football player, Corey graduated from Ashland University with a M.Ed. in Applied Exercise Science and from Kent State University with a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology. He works closely with many Strength & Conditioning professionals from the NFL, NHL, MMA and NCAAF and is regarded as one of the top Performance Coaches and Sports Scientists in South Florida. Along with coaching, Dr. Peacock also works as a professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance at Nova Southeastern University. As a researcher, he has contributed multiple peer-reviewed publications integrating the fields of exercise physiology, athletic performance, and supplementation.

An award winning Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Consultant with over 16 years experience.

Angharad studied Nutrition at the University of Surrey graduating with a BSc. (Hons) in 2000. She then went on to do a Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics at King’s College London and qualified with distinction in 2001.

Angharad started her career at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital before moving to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. In 2008 moving to Cardiff to take up a position as Head of Paediatric Dietetics for Cardiff and the Vale.

In 2013 Angharad became a freelance dietitian running private clinics in the Vale of Glamorgan and online. A guest speaker for health visitor and GP events and consultant for major global nutrition companies, Cardiff Metropolitan University and the Vegan Society. Angharad is a committee member for the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Paediatric Specialist Group, BDA media representative and a recognised private practitioner for Beat (beating eating disorders) and also a Food Revolution Ambassador for Jamie Oliver, running workshops in local schools.

Jane Ogden

Jane Ogden is a Professor in Health Psychology at the University of Surrey where she teaches psychology, vet, nutrition, dietician and medical students to think more psychologically about health. Her main research areas are eating behaviour, obesity management and parenting around food. She has published 7 books including ‘The Psychology of Eating’; The Good Parenting Food Guide’ and ‘The Psychology of Dieting’ (due out Jan 2018) and over 180 research papers. She is a regular contributor to the media in terms of radio, TV, social media, magazines and newspapers and is passionate about making research accessible for a lay audience.

Laurent Bannock

Founder & Director, Exercise Physiologist and Performance Nutritionist

Laurent is the founder and director of Guru Performance with over 25 years of practitioner experience in the fields of nutrition, fitness and performance. He currently acts as a consultant to a variety of professional teams, recreational & elite level athletes, and the military. Previous high performance clients have included being performance nutrition consultant to Bath Rugby, and team performance nutritionist to London Irish, London Scottish, and London Broncos professional rugby teams. Laurent also worked with former Heavy Weight Boxing champion Danny Williams through his last 2 successful title fights, as well as working for the British Fencing World Class Program – supporting the Team GB Fencing Squad towards the Rio 2016 Olympics. Laurent is a Registered Sports and Exercise Nutritionist (UK SENr High Performance), a Certified Sports Nutritionist (ISSN), a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), and is a Certified Anthropometrist (ISAK). His academic qualifications include a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania (USA), and a Post Graduate Certificate in Strength & Conditioning from Middlesex University (UK), where he is also a Professional Doctorate candidate (DProf) in Exercise Physiology and Performance Nutrition (expected early 2017).

In the past decade or so Laurent has managed to rapidly up-skill and evolve to his current level of expertise from his original career as a PT and S&C coach of many years (which started in the early 1990’s) to now being a well-known practitioner-researcher and educator in the field of Applied Sports & Exercise Nutrition, with a number of publications in peer reviewed journals, and is the host of the highly acclaimed ‘We Do Science’ Podcast. Laurent plays an active role in supporting his profession and fellow professionals in any way he can and is currently serving as a member of the registration panel of the UK Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr). He is also a Fellow of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN), sits on the advisory board of the ISSN, and is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of the International Society for Sports Nutrition. Laurent also serves as an expert reviewer for the European Journal of Sports Sciences, and the International Journal for Sports Nutrition & Exercise Metabolism. Laurent is a highly experienced educator & lecturer and is the program director (and founder) for the international ISSN Diploma post graduate program, as well being a senior lecturer and program leader for the MSc Sport & Exercise Nutrition program at Middlesex University, London.

Andrew Chappell

PhD, MSc, BSc Honours

Andrew is a professional natural bodybuilder and has been involved in the health and fitness industry for over 10 years as an instructor, coach, nutritionist, researcher and lecturer. Andrew has an undergraduate degree in sport and exercise science from Herriot Watt University, a post-graduate degree in human nutrition and metabolism from Aberdeen University and PhD in human nutrition from the Rowett Research Institute. During his PhD Andrew studied the effects of dietary fibre on human health, specialising in; the environmental and genetic factors influencing the nutrient composition of cereals, and the effect of dietary fibre on the colonic gut microbiota. Andrew lectures in sports nutrition at Sheffield Hallam University with a current research focus on, the dietary strategies of natural bodybuilding populations and ergogenic aids in resistance training. As a course tutor with ACA he’ll be delivering content with a specific focus on gut health and disease.

Clive Brewer

Assistant Director of High Performance at the Toronto Blue Jays

Clive is going to be contributing to the Advanced Coaching module and I just finished an hours video with him talking about all things S&C and coaching.

Clive joined the Toronto Blue Jays in Feb 2016 as the Asst Director of High Performance, arriving as a world recognized expert in high performance sports conditioning and applied sports science. A fellow of the UK Strength & conditioning Association, Clive is also a chartered sports scientist with the UK Science council and accredited by UKSCA, NSCA & BASES. He has consulted with Manchester United FC, Liverpool Ladies FC (double Premier league champions), Scotland National rugby league (World cup ¼ finalists and current European champions), is the Human Performance consultant for USA Football, S&C editor for the IAAF, & runs the training facility program at the Wimbledon tennis championships.

As Head of strength and conditioning coach with Widnes Vikings Rugby League Club the club achieved their highest superleague finish, whilst injuries were reduced by over 18% each year. He has formerly held national lead roles as the Head of Human Performance (S&C, science and medicine) with the Rugby Football League and SportScotland’s National programme manager for Athlete Development. He was Scotland’s first national strength & conditioning coach for track and field.

Clive has authored a number of papers and book chapters on applied sports science, training methods and athletic development coaching, and has written books on training methods for coaches as well as presenting at a number of International conferences.

Danny Lennon

Danny is the founder of Sigma Nutrition, a company providing educational media content on evidence-based nutrition & performance. Sigma Nutrition also provides an online coaching service to a wide array of clients. Danny works as a performance nutritionist to a number of professional MMA fighters and boxers.

Danny hosts the top-ranked weekly podcast, Sigma Nutrition Radio. Each week a world-renowned expert from one of the fields of nutrition, health, medicine, or sports performance, comes on the show to dive deep into a specific topic with Danny. The show is regularly at the top of the iTunes health and fitness charts, having amassed over 2.8 million downloads as of January 2018.

Danny has an academic background in science and nutrition, including earning a master’s degree (MSc.) in Nutritional Sciences at University College Cork. Alex Viada

NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and USA Triathlon Coach

Alex is the founder and co-owner of Complete Human Performance, and one of the originators of the “hybrid” athlete concept- a training methodology that combines high level strength and endurance into a single program. A lifelong athlete who has participated in and competed in nearly every sport imaginable (some with greater success than others) since being dragged to his first swim meet when he was four years old, Alex holds the record for most weight deadlifted (700 pounds) within a week of running a 50 mile ultramarathon. This record is not official, but is most likely accurate as to date he’s just fairly certain nobody else has bothered to try it. He has close to 13 years of coaching experience with over 400 athletes of all ages and levels, in sports ranging from bodybuilding to ultra running to triathlon to cycling to powerlifting. He has also successfully prepared close to 50 individuals for Ranger School, SFAS, BUD/s, and other selective military programs.

John Meadows

John competed in over 60 bodybuilding contests and earned professional status in the IFBB. He also is a prolific program writer and has constructed over 30 detailed training programs in the last decade. Brad Schoenfeld

Brad Schoenfeld, PhD, CSCS, CSPS, FNSCA, is widely regarded as one of America’s leading fitness experts. He is the author of multiple best-selling fitness including his newest, “The M.A.X. Muscle Plan” (Human Kinetics, 2012). He has been published or featured in nearly every major fitness and women’s magazine (including Cosmopolitan, Self, Marie Claire, Fitness, and Shape), and has appeared on hundreds of television shows and radio programs across the United States.

Brad received his PhD in applied exercise science from Rocky Mountain University. He is currently an assistant professor in the exercise science program at Lehman College and is director of their human performance lab. His research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of muscle hypertrophy and their applications to resistance training. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers on exercise and sports nutrition.

Certified as a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is is a fellow of the organation. He is also certified as a personal trainer by the NSCA, ACSM, and several other fitness organzations. He is a sought-after speaker who presents internationally on both the professional and consumer levels.

James Krieger

James Krieger is the founder of Weightology. He has a Master’s degree in Nutrition from the University of Florida and a second Master’s degree in Exercise Science from Washington State University. He is the former research director for a corporate weight management program that treated over 400 people per year, with an average weight loss of 40 pounds in 3 months. His former clients include the founder of Sylvan Learning Centers and The Little Gym, the vice president of Costco, and a former vice president of MSN.

James is a published scientist, author, and speaker in the field of exercise and nutrition. He has published research in prestigious scientific journals, including the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and the Journal of Applied Physiology. Derek Woodske

Derek Woodske is considered to be one of the premier lecturers on the topic of strength and conditioning and exercise sports performance currently working today. In the past four years, Derek has spoken in more than a dozen countries, translated into multiple languages and influenced thousands of coaches and personal trainers around the world.

Derek began his journey and passion into the world of human performance through his own athletic success as an NCAA All-American and National Champion in the sport track and field. Derek was able to transfer that success beyond college where he represented his home country of Canada on two separate occasions as a member of the Canadian National Team. During his tenure as a member of team Canada he broke two Canadian National Records and won multiple National Championships.

Derek retired from the sport track and field to pursue his passion having worked in both the NFL and NCAA as a professional coach, reaching the pinnacle of the industry that he has so much energy and enthusiasm for.

Lyle McDonald

Lyle McDonald was a video game playing nerd until high school when, through mandatory athletics he became involved in weight training, cycling, martial arts and other sports.

This led him to UCLA to study kinesiology. During this time, he became involved in the new sport of inline skating and began racing. It was during this time that he became interested in the science of performance including nutrition, training and supplementation. He has competed in inline skating, ice speed skating and powerlifting and worked with athletes ranging from bodybuilders to endurance athlete on their training and nutrition.

He wrote his first book, a reference guide to ketogenic/low-carbohydrate diets in 1998 and has written 12 books since then on various topics ranging from fat loss to sports nutrition (this includes perhaps the first formalized approach to Flexible Dieting written in 2004). Since 2015, he has been working on a book on women’s physiology, nutrition, fat loss and training.

Joe Bennett

Joe Bennett is one of the most sought after coaches in the fitness industry. More than a trainer, he labels himself first and foremost, with his coined term “Hypertrophy Coach”. Much as the first “Strength Coaches” bucked the label of “personal trainer”, as it did not accurately depict their profession, Joe is the first to do the same within his specialized field. Clarifying, he specializes in growing lagging body parts, improving symmetry, and creating proportionate, balanced physiques by adding pounds of muscle. Any decent physique coach can get clients and athletes lean, and occasionally add muscle. But the true art/science balance comes only with the ability to truly change someone’s structure and physique. Jason Jackson

Jason’s career began in 2008 when he joined an experienced personal training team at a Virgin Active health club in Northwest London. By 2012 Jason had become an accredited strength and conditioning coach, giving him the necessary credentials to work with professional athletes. Jason spent a season at Brentford Football Club, before a further two-years conducting research at the Saracens’ human performance lab.

In 2017 Jason became a Master of Science in sport nutrition. For his thesis, Jason spent two-years conducting a systematic review of over 100 testosterone studies. In addition to the well-documented physical effects on muscle mass and body fat, Jason examined testosterone’s significant influence on cognitive performance and wellbeing. Jason then integrated his findings into a unified strategy to successfully reverse the age-related decline in testosterone.

Jason is a registered nutritionist with SENr, the performance-orientated division of the British Dietetic Association. In his role as educator, Jason delivers seminars on performance and wellbeing at corporate accounts across the City of London. Clients include All Saints, RBS and exclusive high-end members club The Ned. The number one trainer in Virgin Active’s 20-year history, Jason wrote the book (literally) on nutrition strategy for the company.
